My family is the most important thing about me. My wife Sam and I have two children, a daughter Emily and Son Robert. I have deep roots in Tennessee and the Clarksville community and I am a fourth generation Clarksville native. Growing up, my father was a lawyer and my mother was a pharmacist. Out of my 4 siblings, 3 of us have pursued careers as attorneys. I have 34 first cousins and a large portion of my family is in the medical or legal field.
Being a disability lawyer, I have learned a great deal from both sides as disability law requires an understanding of both. I am a licensed attorney in Tennessee, however, the unique thing about Social Security is that I can practice anywhere in the country. I am also admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Appeals.
Growing up, naturally I always knew I wanted to pursue a career in the legal or medical field. I attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. After college, I briefly worked in the corporate sector and began working at my father’s disability firm in 2011. While working full time, I also attended the Nashville School of Law and graduated in 2016. I opened my own firm in 2017 and have always focused on Social Security and Veterans Affairs Disability cases. My father and grandfather were Veterans and I take pride in serving those who have served.
Outside of work, I love being outdoors. My wife and I purchased a farm in 2021 where we enjoy fishing, hunting, forestry, and habitat/conservation work. We are actively involved in the TN pollinators project, Natural Resource Conservation Society and other conservation societies. Some of my best case strategies are brainstormed while riding a tractor on a Saturday morning. Another hobby of mine is cooking. While at the University of Tennessee I attended culinary school and I am an ACF certified chef. My wife is originally from Louisiana and we love cooking Cajun and southern food.
I have served on the TN BAR Association executive council for criminal justice. I am an active member of the National Association of Disability Representatives, National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ representatives, and one of the few attorney’s in middle TN accredited by the VA office of general counsel.
